When you're preparing your vanilla citrus cider, keep in mind that the longer you allow the cider to simmer, the stronger the flavors will come out.
● 8 cups of apple cider
● 1/4 cup brown sugar
● 1/4 cup orange juice concentrate
● 1/8 teaspoons salt
● 3 cinnamon sticks
● 1 teaspoon whole cloves
● 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
● 4 orange slices
In a fairly large saucepan, mix together the salt, orange juice concentrate, brown sugar, and apple cider, then place the cloves and cinnamon sticks on cheesecloth which has double thickness.
Close the corners of the cheesecloth so as to enclose the seasonings and tie them securely with a string before adding the whole thing to a pan.
Bring the mixture to a boil, and then reduce your heat and allow it to simmer uncovered for one hour.
You can now discard the spice bag and stir in the vanilla, before serving with complementary orange slices.
